Located in Historic Downtown Macon, Willingham Sash and Door Company was established in 1882. It has a long, rich history of providing quality millwork for a wide array of projects ranging from private homes to courthouse renovations. 8 o’clock whistle
The 8 O’Clock Whistle is a story written by Dr. Sam Patton about his year working as a clerk at Willingham Sash and Door in 1929 before heading to medical school.
Preface
“This one year story is to preserve the memories of a unique time. All who love down-home history will appreciate these data and the simple way they are presented. Share these cherished thoughts with me.
Mr. O. P. Willingham, Sr. was 72 years old at this time. Mr. O. P. Willingham, Jr. was 44 years old. Mr. R. W. Clark was 35 years old. All in the story were under 45 years old.”
